Kankakee County Death Records

     The Index covers the years 1877 through 1916.  If you would like the record for a death in this index, you can obtain one from the Kankakee County Clerk, IRAD, from film from the LDS FHC's, or from the certificates we are now posting. Unfortunately, many deaths were not recorded. If you do not find a record here, try probate records, church records, obituaries, etc.

     We are now starting to post the death certificate pages.  This will be a on going project.  We now have Books 1-7 posted.  If an individual’s name is underscored, there is a link to the actual record.

The death certificates have been removed pending approval of the County Clerk

     Please note that the link to the individual's name in our index takes you to the entire page that person's name appears on.  The original information is contained on two pages side by side.  Due to size constraints, the continuation page appears below the first page and not next to it.  You will need to note what line your ancestor’s name appears on and count down to that line on the second page. Book 3 starts a single page format.
